These images are from a 6-week study of “People on Staircase in Motion” by Jerome Marshak. It includes 5,000 single images on the stairs at the Museum of Modern Art taken in June and July, 2012.
On November 10, 2012, as part of Recess at MOMA, Jerome Marshak and Kenya (Robinson) asked the viewer to consider the Museum of Modern Art’s own architecture as a work for exhibition. Following the artists’ choreography, a group of performers traveled between various positions on the main staircase, performing prescribed actions. View map and intervention details here.
